Ms. Sally Smith has been the Architect of the Capitol Office of Inspector General Counsel to the Inspector General and Assistant Inspector General for Operations since 2020. Sally previously served with the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) Office of Inspector General as the Attorney-Investigator where she conducted complex investigations into waste, fraud, and abuse in FCC programs and supported audit, evaluation, and investigative functions, specifically into contracting law and regulations, human resources/personnel, ethics, and other administrative policy issues. Sally concurrently serves as an Adjunct Instructor/Facilitator at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center Inspector General Criminal Investigator Academy where she has focused on civil and administrative remedies, employee rights and obligations, and investigative interviews. Prior to joining the FCC OIG in 2009, Sally served in private industry as a Director of Contracts and Attorney. Sally has managed multi-million dollar, complex investigations and supported contracts for Fortune 500 companies. She comes with tested experience in strategy and operations, investigations, and contracting and acquisition. Sally holds a Juris Doctor and a Bachelor of Arts in Public Administration from Syracuse University; she lives in Virginia with her family and pets.
