The AOC OIG was established by the 2007 AOC OIG Act, which incorporates much of the 1978 IG Act, as amended. The 2019 Legislative Branch IG Independence Act authorized the AOC OIG law enforcement authority. 

Resources

The AOC OIG is aligned with the 2012 CIGIE Silver Book in accordance with the IG Act. As a Legislative Branch entity, the AOC and the AOC OIG are under the Congressional Accountability Act for many employee protections, roles, and responsibilities.
