Abbey Tereba was named the Architect of the Capitol (AOC) Office of Inspector General (OIG) Assistant Inspector General for Investigations (AIGI) in 2024. She is responsible for directing complex criminal, civil, and administrative investigations regarding fraud, waste, abuse, and mismanagement within AOC programs and operations, and AOC employees and contractors. She also coordinates with external law enforcement partners and federal prosecutors from the Department of Justice and various U.S. Attorney’s Offices. AIGI Tereba has been with the AOC OIG since 2020. Prior to joining the AOC OIG, AIGI Tereba served 15 years with the U.S. Capitol Police. She has managed and led investigations involving fraud, public corruption, violent crime and threats or unusual interests against Members of Congress and other statutory Protectees of Congress. AIGI Tereba holds a Bachelor of Arts from Kent State University, is a certified instructor for the Federal Law Enforcement Training Centers and is a former Crisis Negotiator.
